The Black Scholars Index

The Black Scholars Index is a celebration of the scholarly aptitude and academic success of people from the Black Diaspora.* It will visually tell the story of the combined impact of Black* people with advanced degrees** from around the world.

The Black Scholars Index is the first collective index of Black Scholars of its kind! It will provide space to learn, teach, collaborate, share, encourage, and inspire. With features such as the BSI Digital Repository for published articles, work, and research; online collaboration tools; pod/webcasts, and a host of Web 2.0 data visualization elements, The Black Scholars Index will profoundly and historically paint the picture of the various trends, accomplishments, and contributions of Black Scholars.

Why YOU Should Participate!

The Black Scholars Index will truly be a source of pride! This is why we need you to be a part of it. If you are a part of the Black Diaspora* and have an advanced degree** of any kind, in any field, you should participate. If you are a part of the Black Diaspora and are working towards an advanced degree of any kind, in any field, you should participate [as you will be able to track your progress and get advice and resources to help you along the way].

With the hype, attention, and sometimes discouragement that comes with what's known as the "Academic Achievement Gap", your participation in The Black Scholars Index is vital to the encouragement and future success of Black students who use it as a reference, as well as to the profound illustration of success of Black Scholars everywhere.
